Community development

A community development program that will have positive impacts in the local area where our project is located.

Ecotech has appointed a consultant to carry out a detailed community needs assessment, build the basis for identifying community activities for the Community Development Program - Hiep Thanh Wind Power Project, ensuring that the program is developed in a way that is fair and gives maximum efficiency.

Within it, we have identified a number of Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs of the United Nations in accordance with the development needs and conditions of the local communities where the project is located, these goals will become the focus of our community development activities.

Environment

Environment and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)

Based on IFC standards, the Environmental and Social Risks of the Hiep Thanh Wind Power Plant Project have been classified as Category B+ (according to the risk classification of Climate Investor One (CIO)), equivalent to International Finance Corporation (IFC) Class B.

In addition to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report that meets the requirements of Vietnamese law, which has been completed and approved by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tra Vinh province in June 2019 with mitigation measures impact of the project on the environment - society; in order to meet shareholder requirements and identify enhanced environmental and social mitigation in accordance with international standards, the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) report conforms to international standards. of the IFC has been completed. Within the scope of the ESIA report, the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) will be implemented by EcoTech, the EPC contractor consortium and its subcontractors.

These reports will be made available to stakeholders when completed.

Ecosystem and Biodiversity

Baseline studies and assessments have determined that there will be no adverse effects on mangroves, reserves, marine animals or bats. The scattered mangroves in the affected aquaculture ponds will be protected during the construction of the transmission line (TL) tower. While the risk of birds colliding with wind turbine as well as TL tower is considered low and will not have a direct impact on critical habitat, an action plan for biodiversity is under development to address the conservation of birds.

Land

The work of land acquisition, compensation and resettlement is being carried out by the project in accordance to the process regulated by Vietnamese law. To ensure the interests of the people as well as achieve the best financial efficiency for the project, Ecotech hired a sub-consultant to develop a Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP) in line with IFC Performance Standards 5. on Land Acquisition and Involuntary Resettlement

Indigenous localities

The three main ethnic groups in Tra Vinh are Kinh, Khmer and Hoa. Impact on the Khmer group is considered in the Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP).
